Jim McNally currently serves as Vice President of Local 150, and is a third-generation Operating Engineer. In 1974, Jim began working as a Local 150 steam roller engineer with the City of Chicago. Through the years Jim worked up the ranks to Foreman and General Foreman.
In 1995, Bill Dugan appointed Jim as a Business Agent for Governmental Agencies which represents the City of Chicago, Chicago Park District, Cook County and the Water Reclamation District. Jim was responsible for negotiating multi-year contracts, discipline, grievances, personnel board hearings and arbitration hearings. Jim successfully interacted with many of the top political figures in the City and County which proved to be valuable in maintaining support for Local 150 and its members.
In 2005, Bill Dugan selected Jim to be Assistant to President-Business Manager. Jim was given multiple responsibilities which included; Landscaping, Municipality, Governmental Agencies, Pre Grievances and Building Management. Jim re-organized the Landscaping area and successfully negotiated two contracts, for the Landscape Operators and Plantsmen. In 2007, Jim’s insight and experience with the City of Chicago proved to be a great asset in securing an historic 10 year contract. In late 2007, Jim implemented a purchasing policy for all District offices resulting in significant savings to the Union.
In July 2008, the Officers appointed Jim to fill the Vice President vacancy left by Jim Sweeney. This new position brought additional duties which include; serving as a Trustee on the Pension, Health and Welfare, Credit Union and MOE Information Technology Board.
Jim has been happily married to wife Patti, a teacher, since 1981 and has two grown children, Kara and Michael.
